GPA Calculator
Calculate your semester and cumulative GPA on the 4.0 scale — with weighted Honors, AP and IB classes for high school.
How GPA is calculated
Each letter grade is converted to grade points, multiplied by the course’s credit hours, added up, and divided by the total credits. Example: an A (4.0) in a 3-credit class and a B (3.0) in a 4-credit class gives (12 + 12) ÷ 7 = 3.43.
| A+ / A | A− | B+ | B | B− | C+ | C | C− | D+ | D | D− | F |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4.0 | 3.7 | 3.3 | 3.0 | 2.7 | 2.3 | 2.0 | 1.7 | 1.3 | 1.0 | 0.7 | 0.0 |
Weighted GPA
Many high schools add +0.5 for Honors and +1.0 for AP, IB or dual-enrollment classes (an A in AP counts as 5.0). Colleges usually report unweighted GPA. Check your school’s policy, as scales vary.
